As I reflect on the celebration of our 25th anniversary this year, I think about what contributed to our longevity.
Some might say we were lucky. I know it’s much more than that.
Even when it was just my stepfather and me, working out of the spare bedrooms of my grandmother’s house, we knew that moment was merely a steppingstone on the path of growth.
Entech wasn’t an accidental success. We were never just along for the ride because we loved technology. We knew this thing had potential, and we knew we could grow by doing the right thing and taking care of people, our clients and employees alike. Growth was always our expectation. We have gone from a company of two to a company of 10, 30, 50, 80 – not by accident but by design, by belief.
I believed this would be our journey. And I know we’re not done yet.
Mark Twain famously said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I’m not saying these 25 years have been effortless, but I can say we strive to make Entech a great place to work and a great company to work with. The beautiful thing about working in technology is that most of our employees grew up loving it. IT is their hobby and their job. It's my job to ensure they don’t lose that love by creating a work environment that is supportive and enjoyable. A place I love.
I love what we’ve created at Entech. I love coming to work. I love our people. I love the relationships we build with our partners. I love our commitment to our community. I love what we stand for. I love our potential. Even though it wasn’t easy, I love the journey we took to get here. And I love the path we’re on.
Whether it’s Sir Richard Branson who said, “it’s all about finding and hiring people smarter than you,” or Steve Jobs who said, “It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do," or Robert Kiyosaki who said, “surround yourself with people who are smarter than you,” 100% of our success and longevity is owed to the people who make Entech.
Their dedication to enabling people to do what matters has been the foundation of our success. I am so proud to work with this team, to represent them and their hard work.
This isn’t to say Entech hasn’t had luck. Luck has certainly played a role in our longevity. Perhaps not “blind luck” or “dumb luck,” but rather the kind of luck that comes at the junction of preparation and opportunity. In that sense, for the last quarter century, Entech has been very lucky.
